We downloaded the Irish regulator's own register. There is no such thing as an Irish-licensed online casino yet, and that changes how you should read every review you find.

Before you sign up
Check the licence yourself, it takes a minute
Open the GRAI register and look up the company behind the site, not the brand name.
Search for the exact web address you are about to use, not just the brand name.

We downloaded the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland’s own register from grai.ie and checked every entry on 7 October 2026. The register lists 40 licences. None of them authorises casino games. That single fact shapes everything else on this page.
Every online casino an Irish player can reach runs on an overseas licence, usually from Malta or Gibraltar. You can still open an account, but you cannot say the casino is licensed in Ireland. What you can do is check who actually holds the licence and what the licence covers. That is the work this site does, and the work you can do in about five minutes.
Top online casinos for Irish players
The table below lists casinos that accept Irish players, ordered by our transparency score out of ten. That score measures how easily you can verify the casino’s licence, not how entertaining the games are or how quickly a withdrawal arrives. See the full list on the casinos hub.

Before you sign up, check the footer for the company name. Search that company in the register named on the terms page. Confirm the licence category actually covers casino games, not just sports betting. A GRAI number on a casino site covers betting, not casino play.
What we found in the register
Total licences 40 on 6 October 2026
Remote betting 35
Remote betting intermediary 4
In-person betting 1
Gaming licences 0
That is the whole register. No gaming licence exists because the GRAI has not yet opened applications for gaming licences. Those applications are scheduled throughout 2027 and 2028. Every online casino reachable from Ireland therefore runs on an overseas licence, usually from the Malta Gaming Authority or the Gibraltar Gambling Division. Check the GRAI register yourself.
The MGA register held 317 licensees on 7 October 2026. The Gibraltar register publishes no licence numbers at all, only the holder and the category. A GRAI number on an operator’s site covers its sportsbook, never its casino. Read the full licence guide for step-by-step detail. The game suppliers behind those lobbies include Evolution, Pragmatic Play, NetEnt and others, listed on the providers page.
A GRAI number on a casino site does not make the casino Irish-licensed. It means the same company, or a related company, holds a betting licence. The casino product sits under a different licence overseas.

These three are not a top three. They are an example of how the check works. In each case the company that holds the casino licence is the same company that appears on the GRAI register, the clearest possible separation of betting and casino coverage. See the full list on the casinos hub.
NetBet Casino
10.0/10
Screenshot of NetBet Casino lobby.
NetBet Casino is operated by NetBet Enterprises Limited, a Malta company with the identifier C 39218. Its casino licence is MGA/B2C/126/2006 from the Malta Gaming Authority. The same company holds GRAI-1195-RB-26-0001, a remote betting licence in Ireland.
The register shows both entries under the same corporate name. That makes verification unusually clean. You do not have to trace a group structure to see who runs what.
The practical consequence is that the Irish betting licence tells you nothing about the casino product, but the company behind both is identical and public. You can check both registers in under a minute.

Paddy Power Games
9.5/10
Screenshot of Paddy Power Games lobby.
Paddy Power Games uses PPB Counterparty Services Limited, a company registered in Malta with identifier C 40083. Its casino licence is MGA/CRP/131/2006. The same company holds GRAI-1003-RB-26-0001, a remote betting licence in Ireland.
Betfair Casino shares this exact casino licensee. That means the corporate separation between the two brands is less clean than it looks. You need to read the terms carefully when you compare them.
The Irish betting licence belongs to the same company, so the GRAI register shows one entry for both the sportsbook and the casino group. That is easier to verify than brands where three different companies are involved.
The Malta register publishes a clear licence number, and the company name matches across both registers. The score is reduced slightly because Betfair sits under the same licensee, which can confuse the check.
This 9.5 is a transparency rating built from the registers, not a measure of payout speed or game choice.
In its favour
Same company holds both the casino and betting licences.
Malta licence number is public and searchable.
Irish betting licence active since July 2026.
Watch out for
Betfair shares the casino licensee, so brand claims need careful reading.
The GRAI number covers betting only, not the casino games.
The casino sits under Malta law, not Irish law.
BoyleSports Casino
9.0/10
Screenshot of BoyleSports Casino lobby.
BoyleSports Casino is operated by Boylesports (Gibraltar) Limited. The Gibraltar register lists the company as a Gaming Operator (B2C), which covers casino games. The same company holds GRAI-0852-RB-26-0001, a remote betting licence in Ireland.
Gibraltar publishes no licence numbers, only the holder and the category. That makes verification slightly less precise than with Malta, but the company name still matches across both registers.
The practical consequence is that you can confirm the casino product sits under a Gibraltar gaming authorisation and the Irish betting licence belongs to the same company. The reduced score reflects the lack of a published licence number.

The Irish betting licence is held by the same company.
No casino licence number is published, so you rely on the category wording.
The check took slightly longer than the Malta examples.

How we score a casino
The score measures how verifiable a casino’s licensing is, not how good it is to play at. We did not deposit, withdraw or count a lobby anywhere. The rubric assigns points for a public register entry, an Irish regulatory touchpoint, disclosure on the operator’s own pages, accuracy of its Irish claims, and corporate traceability.
How the review is organised
30 %Casino licence in a public register
We find the company that actually runs the casino in a regulator’s own public register, not just a badge in a footer.
20 %Irish regulatory touchpoint
Whether that same company is on the GRAI register. It covers betting, never casino, but it means an Irish regulator already holds the operator to account.
20 %Disclosure on the operator’s own pages
Whether its own site names the contracting company, the casino licence and which product each licence covers.
20 %Accuracy of its Irish claims
Points are lost where a betting licence is presented so it could read as casino approval, and lost entirely for implying Irish casino licensing that does not exist.
10 %Corporate traceability
Whether the register gives a company registration number and licence number you can look up, and how many companies sit between the player and the licence.
Read the full method on the review page or the step-by-step licence guide.

Paying for it
Debit cards and Revolut do most of the work for Irish players. Credit cards cannot be used for gambling at all, online or in person, since 5 February 2026. No GRAI-licensed operator accepts cryptocurrency, so any crypto casino reaching Irish players is unlicensed. Read the full payments guide.

Frequently asked questions
Is online casino legal in Ireland?
Online casino play is not illegal for you as a player, but no online casino holds an Irish casino licence yet. Every casino reachable from Ireland runs on an overseas licence, usually Malta or Gibraltar. You can check which company holds that licence in the public registers.
Is there an Irish casino licence?
There is no Irish gaming licence yet. The GRAI register held 40 licences on 6 October 2026, all for betting. Applications for gaming licences open throughout 2027 and 2028.
Are winnings taxed in Ireland?
Recreational winnings are not taxed as income for a player in Ireland. Professional gambling can be different, but the ordinary player does not owe tax on casino winnings. See the tax guide.
Can I use a credit card for gambling?
Credit cards have been banned for gambling in Ireland since 5 February 2026. Debit cards still work. Any casino that asks for a credit card is not following the rules.
How do I check a casino is real?
Find the company name in the casino’s footer, open the register named in its terms, search the company, and confirm the licence category covers casino games. Date your check so you know how fresh it is.
How we review
Four checks before we write about a site
Name the company
We find the legal entity behind the casino, then look it up in the regulator’s own register: the GRAI register for Ireland, the MGA register for Malta, the Gibraltar register of licence holders.
Separate the licences
A GRAI number covers betting. We record which company holds the casino licence, which holds the betting licence, and whether they are even the same company.
Check what the site claims
We compare the operator’s own wording against the registers, and say so when a badge or a “licence applied for” line could be read as Irish casino approval.
Date every check
Each claim keeps its source and the date it was checked, and is rechecked before an update.

Ciarán writes CasinoCraic. He starts from what can be checked: which company stands behind a site, what its own terms say, and what the GRAI register does and does not cover. Where the evidence runs out, the article says so.
